QARI Receives $1 Million Gift From the Yield Giving Open Call

Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI) has been selected to receive a $1 million gift as an awardee of MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving Open Call. The Open Call recognizes organizations working with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the United States. QARI is excited and humbled to receive this transformative gift to support our work with immigrant communities across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York City.

In March 2023, Yield Giving launched its Open Call for community-led, community-focused organizations whose explicit purpose is to enable individuals and families to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being through foundational resources. The Open Call received 6,353 applications, out of which QARI was awarded as one of 361 top-ranking organizations nationwide.

"We are excited that our partnership with Yield Giving has resonated with so many organizations," said Cecilia Conrad, CEO of Lever for Change. "In a world teeming with potential and talent, the Open Call has given us an opportunity to identify, uplift, and empower transformative organizations that often remain unseen.”

“A gift like this enables us to propel our mission-driven services and think creatively about building new program areas,” said Philip Chong, QARI/Wutabon President & CEO. “One of our core values as an organization – and a reason that many partners choose to work with us – is our willingness to take initiative and think outside the box to better serve our immigrant communities.”

This transformative grant will enable QARI to pursue more innovative and creative programs across our focus areas. QARI supports individuals and families across our service locations to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being. Our programs and services include multilingual resource navigation, adult education, youth programs, health equity and food access programs, environmental initiatives, and cultural festivals. In 2021, QARI launched Wutabon, Inc., a subsidiary focused on workforce development, with operations in Providence, RI and Massachusetts, with partnerships including Amazon, Boston College, Beth Israel Hospital, Claremont Hotels, Kam Man, and Quincy College.
